2025, Fine art prints, six individual, each 21 x 29.7 cm

In 2024, Tomás Saraceno and Antonia Alampi became parents to Emi Lou and entered a state of becoming. Their daughter, Emi Lou, arrived carrying two names—Alampi Saraceno—weaving together lineages, merging stories, refusing the weight of a single inheritance. In her, names shift, unite, metamorphose. She teaches them that to belong is not to possess, but to share, to expand, to tremble with the threads of others.

Around the same time, another name was given: Heteropoda saracenoi, a spider newly named by the arachnologist and friend of the artist, Peter Jäger. Merging again, this time with the more-than-human, becoming entangled in the spider’s taxonomy—two metamorphoses, vibrating together in the wider web(s) of life.

And still, names are never innocent. They can bind, capture, and classify; they can enclose what should remain free. But perhaps a name can also become a crossing, a bridge of response-ability, a reminder that identities are never fixed, and that we are always shifting, always entangled with others.
